YUVRAJ SINGH : AN OVER-RATED PLAYER ?

Saturday, September 12, 2009

Recently i way paying attention on Yuvraj singh, the "member" of Indian Cricket team since 2000. I just figured out that this cricketer has a good following of fans which is OK but I think this "mob" is supporting Yuvraj because of his brand value which is being created by the Indian media and ad companies.
His debut in ODIs, was in 2000 but in Test, which the real form of cricket, he appeared in 2003. This "talented" player spent three years to create a place in test squad and still finding difficulties to be the Test member. Suresh Raina is more reliable than him in tests. What a talent? In ODIs he has avg. of 37, in tests he has 35 and in T20s he has 34. Approximately, they all are the same. So he is in same form in all sort of game. Now take this, he has scored only 1300 runs in Tests. What the hell? Even Harbhajan Singh has more runs than him. After playing about 10 years of cricket, Yuvraj singh has made a very slow progress in achieving the title of "talented player" in my view. What kind of cricketer he is who has nothing to be proud in the real form of cricket. In my view "a cricketer is good when he is good in Test cricket and bad when he is bad in it." So i would say there are hundreds of cricketers who are & were better than Yuvraj but didn't get the chance and are now living in agony. Here are few of them:
1. S. Sriram (Has 5 double centuries & 1 triple century, but all in vain.)
2.Vijay Bharadwaj (was "man of the series" in his first ODI series, but didn't get chance.)
3. Hemang Badani (has equal avg. as Yuvraj but he is not the charming one.)
